At Birds Colombia Experience, we design personalized and exclusive experiences for those who love birds and nature.
These policies are our way to ensure transparency and trust—for you as a traveler, and for us as your hosts.
Bookings & Payments
To confirm your experience we require:
- A completed data form (personal information, emergency contacts, travel details).
- A 30% deposit of the total tour cost.
- The remaining balance will be agreed with you according to the itinerary, but must be completed before the tour begins.
- For last-minute bookings (less than 15 days before the start date), we request 100% payment at the time of booking.
Payment methods:
- Bank transfer
- Credit card via PayPal (with a 10% additional fee for commissions)
Note: Once you make any payment, please inform us by email or WhatsApp with the amount, date, and payment method.

Changes & Cancellations
We understand that plans may change. Here are our conditions:
- Deposit (30%)
- The deposit secures your booking and is non-refundable.
- However, it can be used as a credit toward a future Birds Colombia tour, valid for 1 year.
- Remaining balance
- Cancellation 15–7 days prior to the tour: 50% of the balance will be refunded.
- Cancellation 6 days or fewer before the tour: no refund of the balance.
If Birds Colombia must cancel a tour (which is very rare), we will offer you:
- A full refund, or
- The option to reschedule your experience, or
- A credit toward a future tour.
Insurance & Health
- All participants must have personal travel insurance covering accidents, medical costs, evacuation, and loss of property.
- We strongly recommend adding cancellation or trip interruption coverage.
- As an extra peace of mind, Birds Colombia provides a Colasistencia travel insurance policy during your stay in Colombia.
Health & fitness:
- Please inform us of any medical conditions in advance.
- Our tours are not extreme, but may involve several kilometers of walking, long days in the field, and uneven terrain.
During the Tour
- The trip leader is responsible for safety and smooth operation of the experience. Their decisions are final in case of unforeseen circumstances.
- If a service is unavailable, we will do our best to provide the best alternative without compromising the quality of the trip.
- In remote destinations, accommodation may be more basic. We will inform you in advance, though occasional last-minute changes may occur.
- Our priority is always your comfort and ensuring the best possible experience.
Documentation & Requirements
Passport valid for at least 6 months.
Visa, if required for your nationality.
Travelers are encouraged to complete the Check-Mig pre-registration between 72h and 1h before their flight, as required by Migración Colombia: Check-Mig.
Recommended vaccinations:
- Mandatory vaccines: None are required to enter Colombia, except yellow fever if arriving from a country where the disease is endemic (e.g., parts of Africa or South America).
- Recommended vaccines:
- Keep routine immunizations up to date (tetanus, diphtheria, measles, etc.).
- Depending on the itinerary, a doctor may recommend yellow fever, hepatitis A, or typhoid, especially if traveling to rural, jungle, or low-sanitation areas.
- Mosquito-borne diseases:
- The risk of malaria and dengue is low in most common birding destinations, but we recommend using insect repellent and protective clothing (long sleeves, trousers).
- No vaccines are available for dengue, zika, or chikungunya for travelers.
- 👉 We suggest consulting your doctor or a travel medicine clinic before your trip to ensure your vaccinations are up to date and suited to the regions you plan to visit.
In Summary
We want your journey in Colombia to be unique, safe, and worry-free.
That’s why our policies are designed to be clear, flexible, and fair for both sides.
