Sustainability Policy

At Birds Colombia Experience, we believe that birdwatching and travel are much more than tourism—they are an opportunity to care for life, protect culture, and inspire change. Guided by the Sectored Technical Standard NTS–TS 003 and Colombian legislation, we are committed to responsible tourism practices that respect biodiversity, local communities, and future generations.

Our Commitment

To Nature

  • Protect birds and ecosystems by minimizing our footprint during tours.
  • Respect ethical birding practices and avoid any activity that may stress wildlife.
  • Promote efficient use of resources—water, energy, paper, and fuel—both in the field and at our offices.
  • Encourage waste reduction, recycling, and the use of reusable items (bottles, bags, batteries).
  • Support conservation projects and environmental education initiatives such as Guardián de las Aves.

To Communities

  • Celebrate and respect the cultural authenticity of local communities, their traditions, and heritage.
  • Work with local guides, families, and artisans so that tourism generates income and pride in their identity.
  • Promote fair trade and encourage visitors to purchase local products and crafts.
  • Involve community leaders in the design of experiences, respecting their autonomy and lifestyle plans.

To People

  • Guarantee a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment, rejecting all forms of discrimination.
  • Comply with occupational health and safety standards to protect employees and travelers.
  • Firmly oppose and prevent the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents (ESCNNA), in line with Colombian law (Law 679 of 2001, Law 1336 of 2009, and related regulations).
  • Train our team and partners on sustainability, ethics, and human rights.

Sustainable Practices

We invite our collaborators, travelers, and providers to join these best practices:

    • Avoid removing plants, animals, or cultural objects from their environment.
    • Support ecological initiatives and community conservation projects.
